The Union Public service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the
Combined Defence services Examination (CDS 1), 2026, opening doors for thousands of aspirants who dream of serving in the indian Armed Forces. The CDS examination is one of the most prestigious entry routes for candidates aiming to join the
Indian Army, Navy, and air Force as officers.With the release of the notification, the online application process has begun on the UPSC official portal. Eligible candidates must complete their registration and submit their applications
on or before december 30.
Vacancies & Training AcademiesThrough CDS 1 2026, qualified candidates will be selected for training at:
- Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
- Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
- Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad
- Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
Each academy offers specialized training that prepares candidates for leadership roles in different wings of the defence forces.
Eligibility CriteriaApplicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline for IMA/OTA, Engineering degree for INA, and Physics & Maths at the 12th level + graduation for AFA.
- Age Limit: Varies by academy; typically 19 to 25 years.
- Marital Status: Unmarried candidates for most academies (specific rules apply).
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of india or meet the UPSC-mandated nationality criteria.
