The university Grants Commission (UGC) has released an updated list of fake universities in india for 2026. students and parents have been strongly warned not to take admission in these institutions.

32 Fake Universities Identified

According to the UGC, a total of 32 fake universities are currently operating across India. These institutions are not recognized under the UGC Act and do not have the authority to award valid degrees.

Degrees issued by such universities are invalid for jobs, higher education, or government purposes.

State-Wise Distribution

The fake universities are spread across 12 states, with the highest number in:

  • Delhi – 12 universities
  • Uttar Pradesh – 4
  • Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry, West Bengal – 2 each
  • Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan – 1 each
Examples of Fake Universities

Some institutions identified in the list include:

  • Christ New Testament Deemed university (Andhra Pradesh)
  • Bible Open university of india (Andhra Pradesh)
  • Gandhi hindi Vidyapith (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Global Human Peace university (Karnataka)
These institutions often operate without approval and mislead students through false claims.
