Corona: Why Omicron is less severe?
The studies on lab animals and tissues of humans are giving us the first hints that omicron is milder when compared to the previous variant of covid. The study on hamsters and mice proves that omicron gives less damage and is largely in the upper airway alone. The throat, nose, and windpipe are mostly affected compared to the lungs.
This omicron is less harmful to the lungs compared to the delta and delta plus variant which causes very serious breathing difficulty and scarring in people. The first omicron case was reported in november in South Africa. The virologist had said that the virus behavior cannot be predicted by the changing mutations alone.
The recent research by the Japanese and American scientists had released the report that omicron gives less damage to the lungs, less likely to die, and also lost less weight. The researchers from hong kong also said that omicron is growing slower than delta and many other variants. Corona infections will start from the nose and mouth and then reach the throat. Mild infections will stop till that and will go to the lungs and cause more damage to it.
