In Gujarat, the first case of sub-variant XE of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been reported. A person who came from mumbai to vadodara has been found infected with the XE variant. The man was found infected last month and later returned to mumbai but the report came out on Friday.
Vadodara officials do not have much information in this regard. According to the World health Organization (WHO), the new variant XE of Omicron is more infectious than other variants.
Devesh Patel, health Medical Officer of vadodara Municipal Corporation said, 'A person from Santa Cruz in mumbai was found infected with Covid-19 on 12th of march during his visit to Vadodara. His wife was also with him.According to the results of genome sequencing, the person was infected with the XE variant. According to Devesh Patel, this person had come to vadodara in connection with some work and stayed in a hotel. He told that he got his Covid-19 test done in a private laboratory when he got a fever. The person was found infected on 12 March.According to the vadodara Municipal Corporation, he had returned to mumbai even before the genome sequencing report came. He had given the address of his local relatives for the report.
