Gujarat's navratri celebrations tragically turned deadly as at least ten people perished while doing the Garba. The victims were middle-aged and youngsters who died in less than a day. A 13-year-old kid from Dabhoi, Baroda, was the youngest. Several of the victims passed out while playing Garba abruptly. The 108 emergency ambulance services got 521 calls for heart-related problems and an additional 609 calls for dyspnea over the first six days of Navratri.
The india Herald talked to medical professionals over the potential causes of these heart-related incidents that occurred during a festive period. Garba is a high-energy dance style where people spin around for hours on end to the music. This ancient dance form's intensely popular tempo is exactly what makes it so energising at times. But it also puts a lot of strain on the heart.

In essence, the scenario that we are discussing involves the possibility of intense effort. It's any type of intense physical effort of this kind, not only the Garba dance, Dr. Hisham Ahamed told india Herald. The expert continues by saying that many people may not be used to Garba dancing and that for some it may be a novel physical challenge. "It rapidly increases the heart rate leading to higher oxygen consumption by the heart muscles," said Dr. Hisham Ahamed.
IndiaToday was informed by Dr. Dixit Garg, Consultant Intervention-cardiology, Manipal Hospital, Gurugram. In that genetic occurrences may be the scientific reason for the high number of reported heart attacks.
