Health tips to prevent diseases during Rainy Season

SIBY HERALD

Wash hands regularly

Without a doubt, one of the most important health tips for rainy season is to wash your hands regularly. Whenever you’re out of your home; you’re at risk of picking up germs and bacteria that can cause a number of monsoon diseases. Thus keeping your hands clean is vital. Make sure you always wash them before you handle food in particular, and ensure your children are doing the same.

Eat healthily

There are a number of precautions to be taken during the rainy season, and eating healthy is one of them. The healthier you eat the more nutrients your body will be getting and the more capable it will be of fighting any illnesses. One of the healthy eating habits includes drinking bottled water, as the risks of other water sources being contaminated are much higher.

Avoid rainy walks

Avoid strolls in the rain. Rainy walks can sound appealing; however, doing so can make you prone to monsoon diseases such as leptospirosis and fungal infections of the feet. If your clothes or footwear do get wet, change them as soon as you can.

Shower twice a day

It’s a good practice to get into the habit of bathing or showering twice a day when the rainy season is in full flow. Take a shower in the morning and as soon as you end your day. It will ensure that harmful bacteria are washed off. It will also help your body protect itself from an infection caused by dirt and grime as a result of humidity.
