A chess board has 64 squares. In how many different position can you arrange two draughts on the board?
Answer: the first piece can be placed in any of the 64 squares. In other words, there are 64 ways of placing it. Now remains 63 squares for the second piece, that is any one of the 64 positions of the first Piece we can add the 63 position to the second.
There are 64 X 63 = 4032 different position in which two piece may be placed on a draught board.
