The Brihadiswarar Temple is located in the city of Thanjavur, about 350 kilometers (220 mi) southwest of when and the city is connected daily to other major cities by the network of Indian Railways, Tamilnadu bus services and the nearest airport with regular services is Tiruchirappalli International airport which is about 55 kilometers (34 mi) away.
