The opening ceremony has been scheduled for Thoothukudi Muthunagar beach Park, which has been refurbished with different amenities as part of the Smart City project. Muthunagar beach Park, on Thoothukudi's North Coast Road, is a major tourist attraction. Every day, a great number of people bring their families to this park. On weekends and holidays, such as Saturdays and Sundays, the park is packed. The park was found to be lacking in basic amenities, with damaged children's play equipment, seats, and umbrellas. Under the Smart City project, renovation work began at a cost of Rs 3.25 crore.
The skating rink is perfectly straight. There is a basketball court and a volleyball court. The Nehru Children's Park in this city features a range of new children's play equipment. Tents have been erected along the beach to make walking on the beach more convenient and to protect people from the sun and rain. On the shore, Selby Point has been set up with the slogan 'I love Thoothukudi.' There is also an artificial fountain, a gallery, and a beach access ramp for the disabled. The walls are covered with paintings of Tamils doing traditional country activities. The park is well-kept, with trees and decorative plants, as well as amenities like drinking water and restrooms.
