A meeting of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department was organized in varanasi under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. In this meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary reprimanded the officials for the delay in sewerage connection. Along with this, guidelines were also given to make immediate arrangements in those areas of the city where sewerage lines have not been laid.

Instructions to improve the arrangements
All the deficiencies related to the sewer system-drainage have been asked to be corrected by december 2025. Clearly, instructions have been given to improve the arrangements by the deadline. The Additional Chief Secretary also reprimanded the officials for the houses which have not been given sewerage connection. So far, sewerage connection has been done for only 1.56 households in the city. There are 7 STPs in varanasi with a capacity of 420 MLD. At the same time, there is a problem of overflow in 80 drains.
In the meeting held in varanasi, clear instructions have been given by the officials that maha Kumbh will be organized in Prayagraj in 2025.
