We hear the names of many different posts in the legal profession, but very few people are able to understand the difference between them. Those who are in this profession know the difference, but those who are away from this profession are not able to understand the difference between all these. Because the purpose, rights and responsibilities of these different posts are different. Especially, a common citizen has difficulty in understanding the difference between posts like "Advocate" and "Attorney General". So let us understand the difference between these posts in this article.


How many legal posts are there and what is the difference between them?


Advocate- "Advocate" is a legal professional who fights a case in court for his client. Advocate is called Vakil in Hindi. Their responsibility is to give legal advice, fight a case and prepare documents.


Lawyer- Legally the words lawyer and advocate may sound similar, but lawyer is a general term used for any person involved in the legal profession, including advocates, solicitors and legal advisors.


Attorney General- Attorney General is one of the most important legal positions in India. The person holding this position is the chief legal advisor to the government of India. The Attorney General is selected by the President and he works to give legal advice to the central government. The responsibility of this post is to give legal advice to the government, represent the government side and regulate the affairs of the government.


Solicitor General- Solicitor General works as an assistant to the Attorney General. He is the associate of the Attorney General in the legal matters of the government of India. The responsibility of the person holding this post is to assist the Attorney General and prepare legal strategies.


Legal Advisor- The job of a legal advisor is to advise an organization, company or person on legal matters. This position is mostly seen in the private sector, where an institution needs legal guidance.


Judge- The role of a judge is very important in the legal field. The judge has the right to hear cases in the court and give judicial decisions. The job of the judge is to listen to all the parties impartially and take decisions according to the constitution and law.
