Not Chessy Enough..!
pizza to get costlier..!?
Haryana has been ordered by the Judicial Appeals Authority (AAAR) to make a new change in the GST tax on
pizza, one of the most popular western foods in India. The new order, which seeks to change the GST tax on
pizza, has come as a shock to
pizza lovers. The announcement has left many leading
pizza brands confused about how to tax. There is confusion, especially in calculating the tax difference between hotel or restaurant and online delivery
service providers.
There are several taxes on
pizza in India, all of which vary based on how the
pizza is cooked and sold. For example, if you buy
pizza at a restaurant and eat it there is a 5 percent GST tax, 12 percent GST on the
pizza base, and 18 percent GST on
home delivery of the same pizza.
In this case, an order issued by the
haryana Judicial Appellate Authority (AAAR) on
march 10 imposes the same tax on all
pizza toppings and
cheese toppings. But in fact,
pizza topping has been ordered to be stretched to a maximum of 18 percent as it contains many ingredients.
