Dulquer Salman’s Kurup to release directly on OTT

Dulquer Salman’s next movie “Kurup” is said to release directly on OTT skipping theatrical release. 


The persistent Covid-19 pandemic that’s keeping us restrained from our normal life has had another prey. Dulquer Salman’s high budget entertainer “Kurup” was expected to release by May 2021. However due to Covid-19, the makers had to postpone the theatrical release. The latest reports in mollywood circles is that the team is looking to release the movie directly on OTT platform. 


The streaming rights for the movie has been sold to Netflix who as well is expected to seal the deal for direct OTT premiering. The buzz has been strong and the confirmation is expected to come out in the form of trailer in the coming days. If ‘Kurup’ releases directly on OTT, it will be the most expensive direct OTT release. Recently, Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Malik’ was released on amazon Prime and has been getting positive reviews from the fans and critics. 


Besides Kurup, there are multiple malayalam movies such as “Thuramukham”, “Marrakar: lion of the arabian sea”  in the waiting whose release has been dented due to Covid-19. The movie is produced by Dulquer salman himself with Tovino Thomas, indrajith Sukumaran playing important roles. Srinath rajendran has directed the movie.
