On january 10, 2019, Rajinikanth's film 'Petta,' helmed by karthik Subbaraj and financed by sun Pictures, was released. The film earned over Rs 250 crore at the ticket sales and was a major hit. On the third anniversary of 'Petta,' a deleted clip from the movie was revealed as a special surprise for Thalaivar fans yesterday. Rajinikanth is seen enjoying tea at a roadside cafe when the villain Jithu, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, arrives and causes a commotion.
While Rajini's colleague, karthik Subbaraj's dad, urges him to go, the 'Petta' continues to order tea in order to assess his opponent. If the film had been released in theatres, the moment would have been a scream, but it was supposedly deleted due to the film's already lengthy runtime. However, fans are unhappy with this scene being edited in the final cut as it was a complete massy one with Rajini's trademark style stamped over.
Rajinikanth is expected to do one more movie with karthik Subbaraj in the near future before he bids adieu to his acting career and he is already in talks with few more directors. There are speculations that Rajini's next movie will be funded by the famous AGS productions banner.
