A new Buzz Lightyear teaser has arrived, giving us a clearer look at chris Evans' take on the character as he attempts to save Star Command from Emperor Zurgg. chris Evans will replace Tim Allen as the eponymous Space Ranger in the film, which will be both a spinoff and a prequel to Pixar's Toy Story franchise. Angus MacLane, a franchise vet, makes his solo feature directorial debut with Lightyear, which he co-wrote with Onward co-writer Jason Heaadley.
Buzz and other personnel of Star Command are first stranded on an unknown planet with no hyperspace fuel, and in an attempt to recreate it and return home, Lightyear inadvertently travels through time. Buzz fights against time in the hopes of bringing everyone back to Earth with the help of his robot emotional animal buddy Sox as he sees his friends and family grow old while he stays the same age. When Buzz is introduced to a gang of inexperienced rookies, led by his best friend's granddaughter Izzy, who are attempting to overthrow the terrible Emperor Zurg, his attempts will become even more challenging.
Pixar has published a new Lightyear trailer with little over a month till the film's premiere. Evans' Buzz and his Star Command companions are marooned on a foreign planet, and the titular hero, in an attempt to assist them get home, mistakenly travels 62 years into the future, bringing him into confrontation with Emperor Zurg.
