Elizabeth Olsen Reacts To X-Men In The MCU Question With Feige Reference

Elizabeth Olsen discusses the possibility of the X-Men joining the MCU, adding that the choice is up to Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige. Olsen was nominated for an Emmy for her starring performance as Scarlet Witch in WandaVision last year, and she just reprised her role in doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She's best known outside of the MCU for her roles in Godzilla, wind River, and Ingrid Goes West from 2014.

The X-Men is a superhero squad with unique genetic features that grant them superhuman abilities. After Marvel licenced the brand and characters to 20th Century Fox, the X-Men film series, which includes films like X-Men, Deadpool, and Logan, ran for 20 years. Following Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios purchased the rights in 2019, ending the series with The New Mutants in 2020, leaving the door open for the characters to appear in the MCU.

Olsen showed interest in playing Scarlet Witch in a new X-Men film in an interview with HollywoodLife, citing the character's importance to the team in the comics. She claims it's up to Feige to decide whether or not the characters should be added to the MCU's already huge cast. Olsen also doesn't rule out the potential of a standalone Scarlet Witch film, which would be a fantastic way to get more X-Men involved.
