The telugu cinema chamber of commerce and industry has resolved to make a decision on how to address this challenge, which is being posed by the Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms, which are posing a serious threat to the survival of theatres and multiplexes. Top representatives from the telugu film industry have scheduled an urgent meeting for monday afternoon at the Film Chamber headquarters to talk about the difficulties that OTT platforms present for theatre screenings and how to strike a balance between the two.
Producers, distributors, exhibitors, and studio representatives would all be present at the gathering. Along with the OTT issue, they would also talk about things like the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charges paid to theatres, higher ticket prices, lower production costs for movies, and pay for actors, among other things. The gathering has been convened in response to allegations that the film industry is considering postponing movie production beginning august 1 in order to reorganise the sector and assure its survival.
A spokesperson of the film chamber claimed that since the Covid-19 pandemic epidemic, consumers have grown accustomed to watching movies on OTT platforms, making them a significant issue. The number of people visiting the theatres has significantly decreased as a result. Additionally, the unusual price increases for movie tickets in both states have made it difficult for customers to visit the theatres.
