Deaths due to blood shortage prompted Chiranjeevi to set up blood bank
On Sunday, megastar K. chiranjeevi disclosed that he founded the chiranjeevi Blood bank after becoming moved by the deaths of numerous people caused by a blood shortage in 1998. He claimed to have many devoted followers who would go above and beyond for him, and he said he intended to use their love and support for the good of society. At a gathering at the raj Bhavan, telangana governor tamilisai soundararajan honoured volunteers who had given blood more than 50 times at the chiranjeevi Eye and Blood bank and gave them free life insurance policies. chiranjeevi was speaking at the event.
According to the actor, 9.30 lakh units of blood have already been collected, and 70% of this has been donated to private hospitals and distributed for free to the poor. He claimed that in the two telugu states, the issue of a blood scarcity had largely been overcome. According to chiranjeevi, between 2,000 and 3,000 people regularly give blood. He claimed that the chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT) launched the "Chiru Bhadratha" programme to give donors security.
Each frequent blood donor was insured under the plan for Rs 7 lakh, and the trust covered the cost of the premium. The governor referred to blood donation as a worthy cause in her speech. Even patients' families were hesitant to come forward to donate blood while she was the house surgeon, she said. She applauded the chiranjeevi Charitable Trust for their enormous efforts in raising 4,580 pairs of eyes and 9,30,000 units of blood.
