One of the DCEU proposals that has received the greatest support is a Man of Steel sequel featuring Henry Cavill as Superman. However, a Man of Steel sequel would be challenging to produce ten years after the original film. Given how frequently Dwayne Johnson has hinted at a Black Adam and Superman crossover, the character's future has once again been under question almost five years after Henry Cavill's final appearance as Superman in the DCEU, 2017's Justice League.
Even if Henry Cavill's Superman eventually data-faces The Rock's Black Adam, the ultimate DCEU comeback for Cavill would necessitate a second Man of Steel film. The issue is that Superman's DCEU plot is still up for debate despite almost ten years, two appearances in crossover films, and a contentious Zack Snyder arc that was never resolved.
In Justice League 2 and Justice League 3, none of which is anticipated to materialise, Snyder's Superman arc would continue. Even though it is obvious that Superman's Snyderverse narrative is no longer taking place and the character is now in limbo, the DCEU hasn't given him a new storyline. As a result, for a Man of Steel 2 to succeed, it would need to resemble a soft reboot more than a true Man of Steel sequel.
