The creators of the upcoming movie Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat recently unveiled Akshay Kumar's first look. For the movie, the bollywood superstar will be seen dressing as Chhatrapati Shivaji. The film's creators tweeted a still and a video of Akshay from the movie in addition to announcing it. The actor received harsh criticism on social media as soon as the first image was revealed. He received criticism for not doing enough research before the shoot.

A chandelier may be seen in the shot of Akshay acting as Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj. Here's the catch, though. The rim of the chandelier is covered in light bulbs. The joke is being made since Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj, who ruled from 1630 to 1680, lived long after the invention of the bulb.

"From 1674 until 1680, shivaji Maharaj was in power. In 1880, Thomas Edison created the light bulb. akshay kumar is portraying shivaji in this "Instagram user commented something. Added another "The way akshay kumar is portraying shivaji Maharaj is flawed in many ways. To begin with, shivaji Maharaj died at the age of 50. Age 55 is Akshay. Couldn't they have cast a Marathi-speaking actor with solid acting abilities?" A third person noted, "Not during the reign of Chatrapati shivaji Maharaj, the bulb was created in 1880. @akshaykumar." Others have expressed dissatisfaction with Akshay's portrayal of the legendary maratha warrior.
