That is strong faith. We start paying attention to what always seems to be going on. We had Salim-Javed in the 70s who was the original. In such a situation, we saw many excellent works.

Since then the convictions started to decline and we started remaking every popular film in tamil and Telugu. When the love story Hum Aapke Hain Koun became a hit in the 90s, we turned to that. Everyone including me decided to jump on that chariot of love and made Shah Rukh Khan. Then in 2001, Lagaan was nominated for an oscar and everyone started making films like that.


Karan said, 'Not only this when dabangg did well in 2010, we again started making those commercial films. This is the problem where we get bogged down and I believe for myself more than anyone else that our film lacks conviction. This is what we need to learn from other industries.
