The dil Raju-produced movie Varisu will open in theatres on january 12—two days before Pongal.
Ajith Kumar's Thunivu and Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu will compete at the box office. Prior to Pongal, the latter, which was directed by H Vinoth, will be released on january 11. telugu dubbing will also be done for Vairsu under the title Varasudu. Many theatres in tamil Nadu organized trailer parties with fans prior to the trailer's release.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer opens with Vijay and his enormous family. The character of his father, Sarathkumar, praises his first two sons but says nothing about the third son, Vijay. The battles are staged, and Vijay modulates like Jilla. Even the battle scenes and speech are lifted from the "Sarkar" film, and the story is similar to an earlier Vijaykanth film called "Thavasi."
