In addition to receiving Golden Globe nominations,
rrr won the Best Original Song
prize at the
2019 Golden Globes. The Critics' Choice Awards and NY Film Critics Circle also gave the
movie the Best
international movie honour.
james cameron, a renowned director, praised the film as having a great story at the same time. However,
rrr hasn't even received a nomination for the prestigious BAFTA Awards' Best Non-English Film category. Why, you ask?
In fact, the
english people took the
movie very seriously, which is why they didn't nominate it for an award like their American counterparts did. Everyone is aware that the film's plot is anti-British and depicts the horrors of imperial power in India. The protagonists just fight the
british governor and kill him in the end, which may have damaged the egos of the
british people and made them uncomfortable with the concept of selecting a
movie that is antagonistic to their own people.
But given that India's independence and liberation struggle took place a long time ago, it makes no sense for
british people to be angry with this magnificent sub-continental country. In addition to surpassing the UK in terms of GDP, many original
english enterprises are currently being acquired by top
indian businesses. It serves no use right now to dislike a
movie like RRR.
