The actress grew up watching Dharma
women in sarees working their magic on movies. Raashii therefore anticipated wearing one and filming in
beautiful settings when she was offered a role in a
karan johar movie. However, since she is portraying "a very strong character" in Yodha, that did not occur. However, she did get to do other things, such as "look pretty" and "be happy" in songs.
"When I was younger, I thought films were this shiny... Sari is still worn. It is yet to come true for me to wear a saree in this
dharma film, but you know the other thing like you look nice, and you just want to be happy, and woh sab tha gaanon mein (these are in the songs). Saree ka sapna pura nai hua mera abhi tak is
dharma film mein. But other from that, I play a pretty strong role, so I feel like it was a wonderful balance for me.
However, I pleaded with
karan (Johar) to cast me in a
movie where I wear a saree and play the stereotypical
dharma heroine. But yea, I mean for me, that's sort of an illustration of how it's no longer just for insiders. Like you can navigate through," the actress said to the media.
