Adipurush's Series of Controversies - What Reason?
The most recent—and presumably final—time Adipurush made news for the wrong reasons was when the movie's director, Om Raut, said kriti sanon farewell at the Lord Venkateswara temple by kissing her on the cheek. Prabha's Adipurush has been the most contentious film of the year in addition to being one of the largest and most anticipated films of 2023.
Over the years, the movie had seen its fair share of criticism and controversy, from being mocked for its pitiful VFX to being criticised for Ravana's appearance, which was said to resemble Alaunddin Khilji. We're going to take one more look at all the controversies that the movie has been involved in over its whole history as we count down to the Magnum Opus' formal debut on theatre screens tomorrow.
Adipurush saw some of the earliest blowback after one of its key stars, Saif ali Khan, said in an interview that the film would include a "Humane" version of Ravana. The actor received harsh criticism online for his statement, for which he eventually had to make an apology.
Immediately following the release of the first teaser for the film, this dispute started. The initial teaser for the movie, which left the internet community entirely unimpressed with Ravan's appearance, received harsh criticism. Some have even gone as far as to claim that Adipurush Ravana resembles Alaunddin Khilji or aurangzeb more. Later, in order to avoid any further controversy, the film's production crew altered the VFX and corrected the appearance of Ravana and some other criticised characters.
