G Marimuthu gained immense popularity in the role of Ethirneechal in the tamil television series. He has also worked as an assistant director with filmmaker Mani Ratnam, among others.

Then, he worked as an assistant director in Aasi under director Vasanth. Ajith, Suvalakshmi, and prakash raj were in lead roles in the film.


 In 2008, Marimuthu made his directorial debut with Kannum Kannum, starring prasanna and Udayathara in the lead roles. The thriller drama starring prasanna and Vemal is a remake of the 2011 malayalam film Chappa Kurishu.
