Leo Is Not Profitable For Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners - Shows Cancelled
The Theatre Owners Association President, Tirupur Subramaniam, recently discussed the financial difficulties facing the business in connection with "Leo." He underlined that the large revenue share sought was the reason the movie didn't make money for cinema owners. "Leo was not a profitable film for us," Subramaniam said. They purchased share distribution, which is unusual in tamil Nadu, which is the cause. The majority of cinema operators did not choose to show this movie."
He went on to say that regardless of the movie's total revenues, cinemas were forced to bear the financial burden of the disproportionate revenue-sharing scheme. Subramaniam made the observation that theatre operating and maintenance costs would not be adequately met if such high share percentages persisted. Remarkably, the movie received a 60 percent share when it opened in Kerala, a data-bordering state, while tamil Nadu cinemas had to deal with an 80 percent share demand.
