Salaar - Risk Of Losses Exceeds Chances of Profits

The release date of Prabhas' next big-budget movie, Salaar, is set for december 22nd. The producers are selling the theatrical rights, and it appears that a whopping ₹175 crore agreement has been reached for the distribution rights in the telugu regions. To guarantee that distributors can recoup their expenditures with a meagre profit, the film must, however, make between ₹300 and ₹325 crore in telugu states during the course of its run.

This significant investment reminds me of Prabhas' last movie, "Adipurush," which lost money even though it was only supposed to make ₹75+ crore in telugu states after being sold for ₹115 crore. "Salaar" has a similar problem, and recovering such a large expenditure will be difficult unless it receives the kind of extraordinary critical acclaim that "Baahubali" did. The potential losses for distributors exceed their marginal revenues, making the stakes high.

However, Hombale Films might make as much as 500 crores from the sale of the theatrical rights alone. The production business is likewise anticipated to achieve just average profits after accounting for the fees of prabhas and director Prashant Neel, as well as other costs. The global box office receipts for Adiprurush were around 250 crores. "Salaar" has to make at least ₹1000 crore globally in order to be considered a success. This amount will put everyone in a comfortable situation.
