A few days after facing allegations that her film "Annapoorni" had offended Hindu sentiments, the film's lead actress Nayanthara issued an apology. Nayanthara addressed the controversy on her instagram account late on thursday night, responding to the concerns raised after the release of "Annapoorni," which had prompted an FIR to be filed against the movie.

Netflix has officially responded to the controversy as well. Nayanthara clarified that neither she nor her team had any intention to hurt anyone's sentiments and expressed regret for any unintentional hurt caused. The actress acknowledged that the film's removal from the OTT platform was unexpected, especially given that it had previously been censored and released in theatres.

Nayanthara emphadata-sized that the film aimed to convey a positive message and that her team did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments deliberately. She apologized sincerely to anyone who felt offended by the movie. Nayanthara shared her perspective on the film, stating that the intention behind "Annapurni" was to uplift and inspire, not to cause harm. She highlighted her two-decade journey in the film industry, guided by a purpose of spreading positivity and learning from diverse experiences.

The controversy around "Annapurni" stemmed from Nayanthara's portrayal of a woman from a traditional Brahmin family aspiring to become India's top chef. Certain scenes depicting the character's struggles and the mention of Lord Rama in relation to meat consumption sparked objections. Former shiv sena leader Ramesh Solanki filed a police complaint, alleging that the film had hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community, leading to the film's removal from Netflix.
