Sana Rais Khan called Armaan Malik's two marriages illegal under the 'Hindu Marriage Act'
In a conversation with 'Indian Express', theex-contestant of 'Bigg Boss and a recognized lawyer by profession Sana Raees Khan commented on Armaan Malik's marriage with two wives Payal and Kritika. sana called Armaan's second marriage illegal under the 'Hindu marriage Act 1955'.
In his words, “In India, under the 'Hindu marriage Act 1955'a Hindu man can legally have only one wife at a time. Polygamy is not permitted for Hindu individuals. Therefore, a second marriage will be considered illegal and will not be recognized under indian law.”
Sana reacts to the impact of Armaan's two marriages on Hindu culture
Sharing her views further on the matter, sana Rais Khan revealed how the portrayal of a Hindu husband with two wives in a reality show creates confusion among people, as polygamy is prohibited in our country as per the law. Furthermore, she also explained how such scenes can lead to stereotypes about the validity of marriage in society.
He said, “Showing a Hindu husband having two wives in a reality show may create confusion about the validity of polygamy under Hindu law, as polygamy is not legally recognized for Hindus in India. This may lead to misunderstanding among viewers about the norms governing marriage in Hinduism. It may also promote stereotypes or misconceptions about Hindu practices and beliefs about marriage.”
When Payal called Kritika and Armaan's marriage 'illegal'
Earlier, in a shocking revelation with 'India Today', Payal Malik had spoken about her husband Armaan's two marriages right after his exit from 'Bigg Boss OTT 3'. She had insisted that he had not converted to another religion. Payal had revealed that Armaan belongs to a Jat family while she belongs to a Gujjar family. Moreover, Payal had insisted that she is Armaan's only legal wife.
In the same conversation, Payal had said that her husband Armaan Malik's second marriage with Kritika was illegal. She cited the 'Hindu marriage Act' and revealed that if the first wife has no objection to her husband's second marriage, it is not considered illegal. She had said, "Kritika and Armaan ji's marriage is not legal. However, as far as I know, if the first wife has no problem with her husband remarrying, then it is not an issue."
