At the Malhar Film Festival, dia mirza expressed her deep admiration for Vijay’s immersive approach to his role, noting how he stayed fully in character throughout the shoot, which made the experience particularly special for her.
Dia mirza commented, “He remained in character throughout the entire shoot. Working with Vijay was a dream of mine. Although we were part of the same story, I didn’t see him working directly. I have to find a way to work with him again because I’m such a big fan.”Netflix india has unveiled the highly awaited trailer for IC814: The Kandahar Hijack, a series based on the 1999 hijacking of indian Airlines Flight IC814. The cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Verma, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, dia mirza, Pankaj Kapur, and Patralekhaa. This mini-series also marks the OTT debut of director Anubhav Sinha, known for his intense dramas such as Mulk, Thappad, Article 15, and Bheed. The series will premiere on Netflix india on august 29.
The trailer offers a gripping portrayal of the Kandahar hijack, a dramatic event that shocked the nation. With 188 lives at stake, it vividly depicts the tension and chaos from the moment the plane was seized. The narrative explores the escalating demands of the hijackers and the indian government’s desperate negotiation efforts. The intense diplomatic exchanges and internal government struggles are depicted with striking realism.
A particularly dramatic moment in the trailer shows the aircraft, critically low on fuel, flying at a dangerously low altitude, putting the captain in a dire situation as he declares ‘Mayday, Mayday’. Vijay Varma’s portrayal of the captain highlights the immense psychological pressure he data-faces during this critical situation.
The hijack of Flight IC814 occurred in december 1999 when indian Airlines Flight 814 was seized by militants. The plane, traveling from Kathmandu to Delhi, was diverted to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where it was held for several days, leading to intense negotiations and complex diplomatic efforts.
Anubhav Sinha, known for films such as Mulk and Article 15, had previously emphadata-sized the importance of authenticity in the series. “In my research, I found that while many people remember some aspects of the hijack, the full complexity of the events over those seven days is not widely known,” he stated at the Next on Netflix event in Mumbai.
