Stree 2 Hits Rs 500 Crore Mark Worldwide on Day 10
The horror comedy stree 2, featuring rajkummar rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in worldwide box office collections, as announced by the film's makers on Sunday. Directed by amar kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, the film is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree.
Maddock Films shared the latest figures on their X page, noting that stree 2 achieved the highest-ever earnings for a second Saturday. Expressing gratitude to fans, the post encouraged viewers to continue supporting the film. According to the production house, stree 2 has grossed Rs 426 crore in india and Rs 78.5 crore internationally, totaling approximately Rs 505 crore. The domestic net collections stand at Rs 361 crore.
Released on august 15, stree 2 outperformed other films released around the same time, including Nikkhil Advani’s Vedaa, featuring Sharvari and john Abraham, and Mudassar Aziz’s Khel Khel Mein, starring Akshay Kumar. The film, written by Niren Bhatt, also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and abhishek Banerjee, and continues the eerie saga of Chanderi with Rao and Kapoor reprising their roles. The plot introduces a new menace, Sarkata, and features notable cameos, including varun dhawan as Bhediya.
Critically, stree 2 has been well-received. . While some fans wished for more screen time for Kapoor, her action scenes and Rao’s versatile acting were highlighted as strong points of the franchise.
Director amar kaushik expressed his satisfaction with the film’s success in an interview with indianexpress.com, stating, “I am very happy that the film is performing so well at the box office. I wanted to ensure that the success was not merely because of the love for the first part. It was important to me that people genuinely liked the film. I have always sought appreciation from both reviewers and audiences.”
