'Maidaan' makers break silence on not paying royalty…?
Bollywood superstar ajay Devgan played the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim in his film 'Maidaan' released this year. Now media reports are claiming that the makers of Maidaan have not paid royalty to Syed Abdul Rahim's family as promised. It is being told that Syed's family recently met the telangana government for this matter and narrated their ordeal. It was said that a case can be filed against ajay Devgan and the makers for 'fraud'. However, now Maidaan producer Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP has issued an official statement in this matter and rejected such claims.
The allegation is completely false
Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects has said that all such allegations are completely false. According to Bayview Projects, 'The Producers were not bound to obtain any permissions/consents under the law but Rahim's heirs, in good faith, settled the matter amicably with the heirs on the terms and conditions recorded in the Consent Conditions dated 29th january 2020. Bayview Projects LLP is adhering to the Consent Conditions and in fact all the legal heirs have confirmed Bayview's compliance with the Consent Conditions and have expressed their full support and appreciation of the film. Further, the Producers have also acquired the life rights of Squadron.
Ld. Syed shahid Hakim (now deceased) and as per the instructions given by Hakim to his wife Sadia Syeda and his family members namely Mohammad Abdul Samad and Mohammad Shariq Daniyal Akhtar, during their lifetime. It is shocking to read reports regarding non-payment of royalties to the heirs of late Rahim, more so when there is no obligation to pay. This allegation is completely false.
It further stated that, Bayview Projects LLP has not received any notice from the police or any state authority. If any claim/notice is received from the police or state authority, Bayview will take necessary action under the law to protect its rights. As it will be legally advised. The press and public are appealed to exercise due caution and responsibility while reporting such misinformation. The articles reported have caused serious injury and prejudice to the reputation of Bayview, the film and all stakeholders associated with the film.
