Urfi Javed Avoids Paparazzi in First Public Appearance After 'Harassment' Incident
Urfi Javed, known for frequently engaging with the paparazzi, chose not to pose for the cameras during her latest public appearance on Thursday. The actress was spotted by photographers as she visited a restaurant in Mumbai. In a video that surdata-faced on social media, Urfi is seen walking towards the restaurant while photographers attempted to get her attention. However, she did not stop and avoided posing for them.
This decision comes shortly after Urfi reported an unsettling incident involving a 15-year-old boy in Mumbai. The actress claimed on instagram that she was harassed by the teenager, who shouted inappropriate remarks at her while she was being photographed, in front of her family. “Yesterday, something extremely uncomfortable happened with me and my family. A group of guys were passing by while I was being papped, and one of them, who was barely 15 years old, shouted 'What’s your body count' in front of everyone, including my mother and family!” Urfi shared in her instagram stories.
This incident is not the first time Urfi has encountered such issues. She has previously data-faced criticism for her fashion choices and has been subjected to online threats. In december 2022, a man named naveen Giri was arrested in mumbai for allegedly sending her rape and life threats. He was charged under several sections of the indian Penal Code, including sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation. In an earlier interview, Urfi expressed her frustration over the complaints against her and mentioned feeling unsafe. Despite this, she defended her provocative outfits, stating that seeking attention is a part of the entertainment industry. “This industry is all about gaining popularity and attention, so what’s wrong with that?” she told E-Times.
On the professional front, Urfi Javed's latest project, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, has recently premiered on Prime Video. The nine-episode series, produced by Sol Productions’ Fazila Allana and kamna Menezes and directed by sandeep Kukreja, offers an unfiltered look into Urfi's life as India’s biggest viral sensation.
