Chiranjeevi to Receive ANR Award This Year, Announces Nagarjuna

Megastar chiranjeevi is set to receive the prestigious Akkineni National Award, as revealed during the centenary celebrations of akkineni nageswara rao (ANR). The award ceremony will be held on october 28, with bollywood icon amitabh bachchan attending as the chief guest to present the honor to chiranjeevi, known for his role in Waltair Veerayya. nagarjuna, ANR’s son, shared this exciting news, delighting Chiranjeevi’s fans. At the press meet for the ANR 100 film festival, nagarjuna stated, “We’ve decided to present the award to chiranjeevi garu this year. When I told him, he felt happy and emotional. He expressed gratitude for this recognition, especially during such a significant year.”
Chiranjeevi recently posted a heartfelt tribute to ANR on X, reflecting on the legendary actor’s contributions to cinema and their shared moments in the film Mechanic Alludu. He wrote, “Remembering the legendary ANR on his 100th birth anniversary. His memorable performances are etched in the hearts of telugu audiences, and I cherish the moments spent with him.”
The celebrations for ANR’s centenary took place on september 20 in Hyderabad, hosted at rk Cineplex and attended by industry stalwarts including nagarjuna and renowned director Raghavendra Rao. The Akkineni family plans a grand function to honor chiranjeevi as part of the ANR 100 film festival celebrations.
Additionally, at the international Film festival of india (IFFI) in November, a video showcasing Nagarjuna’s film journey will be screened alongside tributes to ANR and other legends like raj Kapoor.
The Akkineni international Foundation established the ANR National Award in 2006 to honor lifetime achievements in indian cinema. The award’s inaugural recipient was the late Dev Anand, and other notable winners include amitabh bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Sridevi, among others.
