Coldplay Ticket Scandal: mumbai police Summons BookMyShow CEO
The mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has summoned ashish Hemrajani, CEO and co-founder of BookMyShow, along with the company’s technical head, amid allegations of black marketing for tickets to the upcoming Coldplay concerts.
The highly anticipated concert in january 2025 has raised concerns about ticketing scams on the platform, with millions of fans competing for a limited number of tickets. BookMyShow is the official ticketing partner for Coldplay’s shows.
The investigation stems from a complaint by an advocate, leading the police to summon Hemrajani and the technical head for questioning on Saturday. A preliminary inquiry has already commenced.
In response to the allegations, BookMyShow has also filed a police complaint regarding the sale of fake tickets on other platforms. The company has emphadata-sized that it is not affiliated with any unauthorized ticket-selling platforms, such as Viagogo or Gigsberg, and that scalping is illegal in India. They have committed to fully cooperating with the investigation and have warned consumers against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sources, as these may be counterfeit.
