Chidambaram, the director of the hit malayalam film "Manjummel Boys," has expressed strong reservations about the film being remade in any other language. He believes that the unique nuances of the story may be lost in translation.

The film follows a group of friends from the small town of Manjummel near kochi whose vacation takes a dark turn when one of them falls into an 800-foot-deep pit in the Guna Caves, located in Kodaikanal, tamil Nadu.
While chidambaram is generally open to the idea of remakes, he feels that "Manjummel Boys," with its specific cultural context, should remain untouched. He stated, “It’s a real story about a real cave and people. The cultural connections with the people of kerala and tamil Nadu are integral to the film's success.”
Chidambaram highlighted that several factors contributed to the film's positive reception, and he doubts how well these elements would translate into another language. “I don’t think ‘Manjummel Boys’ is a movie that should be remade in any other language,” he told PTI during the IIFA Awards.
Describing the film as a “pure humane story,” he emphadata-sized its universal themes, noting that it depicts a man’s heroic attempt to save his friend from peril. “It’s a first of its kind, changing the history of the cave… Who wouldn’t want to make a film like that?” he remarked.

Looking ahead, chidambaram aims to explore a variety of genres in his future projects. He stated, “As a filmmaker, I want to do varied movies… my next film might be something very funny or very violent.”
In addition to his future plans, chidambaram is also set to make his hindi directorial debut in collaboration with Phantom Studios, with his upcoming film currently in the development stage.
