'Kahaani' director Sujoy Ghosh has revealed this during an interview given to casting director Mukesh Chhabra for Mashable India. He said that due to the tight budget of the film, he could not buy a vanity van for vidya Balan. Sujoy said, "We did not even have the budget to buy a vanity van. We did not have the luxury to stop shooting for a while because our budget was low. So, whenever she had to change clothes, we would cover her Innova with a black cloth in the middle of the road, and she would change clothes inside and come out for shooting."

Sujoy Ghosh praised vidya balan for agreeing to work with him in 'Kahaani'. Sujoy said that vidya could have refused to work with the filmmaker because her film Aladdin flopped at the box office in 2009. The 'Kahaani' director compared the actress to megastar amitabh bachchan and superstar Shah Rukh Khan and said that she is in their league. The director said that all of them are committed to their work and vidya is also like that.
