Reportedly esha deol once fondly shared memories of her strict grandmother, Jaya Chakravarthy, who was also hema Malini’s mother. Recalling her teenage years, Esha mentioned how her nani set firm boundaries, especially regarding fashion. She wasn’t allowed to wear spaghetti tops or short skirts, which many teenagers love experimenting with. Esha humorously noted that her nani was like a “CCTV camera," always keeping an eye on everyone, particularly when they returned from outings. Jaya Chakravarthy’s vigilant nature ensured that Esha and her sister followed certain decorum during their formative years.

Perhaps in a chat with Hauterfly, she recalled, “My nani was very strict. We were not allowed to wear spaghetti and short skirts and go out. And that time CCTV cameras were not there. Agar aaj kahe to woh CCTV camera hote the ghar ka. Toh jaise hee hum log ghar aaye the bada living room hota tha aur tv hota tha. So, my nani would be sitting there watching her tv, her South indian Sun tv, this, that, and all be going on."

Moreover Esha had opened up about tips from mother hema malini that helped her from feeling uncomfortable on sets. Esha had said, “Back then, only the heroines and the hairdressers would be women." She added, “Luckily, my mother has experienced this industry. There were tips that I was always given to avoid getting into that zone of getting into trouble or feeling uncomfortable." For instance, when she wore a short skirt during a shoot, her man friday would place a towel on her lap between takes. Similarly, if she wore a low-neck top, she was given a cloth to cover up between shots.
