Scammed! karan johar Shares Story Of 'Famous Actress Friend' Who Lost Rs 82,000 To instagram Fraud
Karan Johar has shared a shocking story of how a famous actress was scammed out of Rs 82,000 by fraudsters posing as salespersons on Instagram.
Karan Johar said in a recent 'Conversation Podcast' episode that an actress, who he did not name, was seduced by a designer dress that was limited edition and offered at an incredibly cheap price. The outfit, which was originally valued at about Rs 4.5 lakh, was sold for Rs 82,000.
Karan claims that the actress found the bargain by chance one night while browsing instagram in preparation for an international film festival. He shared, “Well, I can't mention her name. She won't like it. She was a famous friend of mine, an actress, and she had to go to this international film festival.
And generally while scrolling through instagram one night she saw that there was a limited edition designer outfit and it was supposed to be sold at an unbelievable price. Originally priced at about Rs 4.5 lakhs, for just Rs 82,000 or something. So she thought ‘Wow what a deal’. She DMed them. They immediately responded by saying ‘Ohit's our last piece, grab it now otherwiseyou're going to lose it’.”
The actress was so amazed by the deal that she wanted to see more photos and specifications of the dress. The vendors' high-quality photos seemed to be the deciding factor. Nevertheless, the actress was disappointed because the dress never came after she deposited the money via UPI. “Not only did the gown never arrive but she also repeatedly pressed them for the delivery or a refund. Nothing happened," Karan revealed.
