A single-member bench of the high court stayed the release of the film, saying that its title will directly connect people to Johar. In june 2024, karan johar sought a stay on the release of this film. He had told the court that unless his permission is taken for the use of personal things like his name and profession, it would be considered a violation of such rights.

Karan Johar had said that the makers of 'Shaadi Ke director karan Aur Johar' had not taken any action on his notice sent in June. I have no connection with the film. The filmmakers wanted to use my name to give it a name that would connect the audience with them. The dialogue and screenplay of the film insult us. This film will come under the adult category.'
