Aamir Khan's latest release 'Sitaare Zameen Par', co-starring Genelia D'Souza, has completed a successful first week at the box office, inching close to the ₹90 crore milestone. According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film has netted ₹89.15 crore in india and is expected to cross ₹100 crore over the weekend.The film added ₹6.75 crore to its total on Wednesday, with global earnings now surpassing ₹130 crore. Compared to Aamir’s past releases, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is already on track to outperform 'Ghajini' (₹114 crore) and close in on 'Thugs of Hindostan' (₹145 crore).
Before the film’s release, superstar aamir khan made headlines for turning down a ₹120 crore OTT offer, stating his intent to keep the movie exclusive to theatres for at least a year. “I want people to return to theatres for meaningful stories,” Aamir had said during the press tour.
Despite competition from 'Kuberaa' (₹69 crore) and the big-budget comedy 'Housefull 5' (₹180 crore), 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has maintained a steady pace, thanks to word-of-mouth and its emotional resonance with audiences.
