Chahal further said that after the divorce, he was wrongly labelled a "cheater" even though he had been faithful throughout the relationship. chahal said, "After the divorce, I was called a cheater. And I have never cheated in my life. I am a very loyal person. You will not find a loyal person like me anywhere. I care a lot about my people." chahal said that what hurt him the most was that people jumped to conclusions without knowing the full story. He further said, "What bothers me is that you people don't even know what happened, and still you are blaming me."

The cricketer further said, "I know my truth, and people close to me also know my truth, so it doesn't matter to me. Why should I explain myself to anyone when I have not done anything wrong?"

"I was in depression for five months."

The leg-spinner revealed that during this emotional turmoil, he suffered from severe anxiety and even suicidal thoughts. chahal admitted, "I was in depression for four to five months. I used to have anxiety attacks. Only people close to me know this. I never shared this with anyone for sympathy. I used to have suicidal thoughts because my brain had completely stopped working."

Took a break from cricket to deal with mental health

He further revealed that he took a break from cricket to deal with his mental health. Despite having all the material comforts in life, he said that he used to feel empty. He said, "You have everything in your life, all the comforts, but still you don't have happiness. Then these thoughts come to your mind - what to do with this life, just leave it."
