Vil Ambu Tamil Movie Review, Rating
Coming to performances, Sri has once again proved his mettle. After 'Vazhakku Enn 18/9' and 'Onaayum Aatukutiyum' he has done it once again. He is one of the actors who should be watched out. His body language is flawless. The way he does activiites like a local rogue deserves accolades. Harish Kalyan is not bad. Comparing to Sri, he is not that spectacular. He has done justice to the role. But still he has a long way to go. Srushti Dange and Samskruthy Shenoy are just fillers. The template heroines in Kollywood. They have nothing to do other than do the typecast roles. Chandini alone has few scenes to show her skills. Harish Uttaman, Nisha Krishnan, Nandakumar did justice to their roles. But due to the poor screenplay, we hardly feel their presence.
As we have seen, the plot was interesting. But is the movie good ? The answer is 'NO'. Debutante Ramesh Subramaniam has failed to sketch a proper screenplay. The screenplay was not linear and director even loses core plot after some time. There are lots of sub plots and the steam is lost mid way. Martin Joe's cinematography captures the exquisite locations of coimbatore. The camera shows the raw and rustic life of middle class people. The colour tone itself speaks a lot. Antony L Ruben's cuts blend along with the story. His cuts are racy. But on such a improper screenplay it is useless. Navin's music is phenomenal. In fact the music carries the movie throughout. His background score is also mesmerizing. The music clearly sets the ambiance of that particular emotion. It is one of the best things which happened to the movie.
The idea is clearly good. But the execution is a failure. In fact it is a disaster. These days most of the debutante directors show up with interesting plots. But they fail with clear cut execution. Audience can enjoy the intelligence of director only if the director has clear view of the plot. Christopher Nolan's movies are example. Ramesh Subramaniam has failed to create that impact. But still the movie can be enjoyed for its performance of the lead cast.
