Pichaikkaran Tamil Movie Review, Rating
Music composer Vijay Antony is back with 'Pichaikkaran'. The project is directed by Director Sasi who was last seen in the movie '555'. Vijay Antony himself has produced the movie under his banner Vijay Antony Film Corporation. Apart from Vijay Antony, the rest of the cast has actors like Satna Titus, Bucks and John Kennedy. Technical team includes Veera Senthil Raj for editing and Prasanna S.Kumar for cinematography. Prasanna Kumar earlier worked as an assistant to Rathnavelu. In 90', all Rajin's movies will have similar plot.. Rajini will go from 'Rags to Riches'. Here a rich man is forced to be a beggar due to a demanding situation. He unravels a mystery and how he walks out of the mess is said in an engaging and a gripping manner.
Coming to performances, Vijay Antony has established himself as an actor with each movie. He betters himself each time. Satna Titus from Kerala makes a strong debut. She is gorgeous and she will definitely make an impact on Kollywood. She is yet another welcome actress in Tamil cinema. She is a boon to Kollywood. With sharp eyes and decent acting skills, she can reach new heights. Bagavathi Perumal has done a good role this time. More than 'Jil Jung Juk', he has got a meaty role in this venture. He is next big thing in Kollywood. Muthuraman and the newbie as antagonist has done powerful performance.
'Pichaikaaran' is solid in technical way.Especially Sasi's story and screenplay. No wonder he took lots of time to work on the project. The movie is labelled as Action thriller. But on the whole, the movie just has three action blocks. Action scenes deserve a special mention. The Railway station fight scene is so spine chilling. Prasanna Kumar's cinematography is simple and neat. The frames are kept on a low key. No various change apart from natural lightings. He makes a solid debut as cinematographer. Veera Senthil Raj's editing is crisp. There are no 'hush-hush' cuts. Each cuts are simple and the running time is below the expected one. Cinematographer has captured exotic locales of Pollachi in a green tint and that is a beautiful thing. Music by Vijay Antony is a biggest plus. He still proves his ability as a composer. Be it theme or 'Unakaga Varuven' songs are soul stirring. A couple of thumping numbers show Vijay Antony's trademark.
The movie has its own moments. However the songs are acting as barricades. The movie has some tense moments and that is what pushes the movie forward. Sasi has done a good job in screenplay. But he misses the punch somewhere in between. The steam is lost mid way. However the tense comes back in the latter half of the movie.
