Mumbai Born British artist Anish Kapoor will now appear on the British passport. The news was confirmed by United Kingdom's Immigration minister James Brokenshire. He said the news at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
The Passport will be issued from next month and it will celebrate Britain's creative industry over the ages. The new design will also feature the British's legendary icons such as William Shakespeare, Charles Babbage, Ada Lovelace and Anish Kapoor.
Each pages in the passport will also show the landmarks in UK like Angel of the North and the Titanic Belfast. It has to be noted that UK launches a new look in passport for every five years. Regarding the new passport design, Passport Office Director General Mark Thomson said, "UK Passport is celebrating the creative minds of Great Britain and Northern Ireland over 500 years to the present day.
Kapoor is one of the talented modern artist. He was even honoured by Queen Elizabeth II. He also became the first living British artist of Indian origin to take over the Royal Academy in 2009."
