Karnataka Poll Results Counting was taken up this morning under tight security at 36 centres and the results are expected to be known by noon, sources in the Election Commission said. Elections were held to 223 segments on Sunday, after the one in Periyapatna in Mysore district was countermanded to May 28 following the death of BJP candidate. At 71.29 per cent, the voter turnout was the second highest in the state history, after 71.90 per cent in 1978.
This time exit polls and surveys are standing out to be true in the case of Kannada land. Congress is coming back strong and JDS also showing its muscle while BJP has gone with the wind strongly.

2:30 pm - Final results are out folks. Congress won 121 seats, BJP won 40 seats, JDS won 40 seats, KJP won 6 seats and Otheres won 16 seats.

2:10 pm - Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has won with 33,000 votes.

1:00 pm - CM aspirant Siddaramaiah has taken a lead of over 20,000 votes over his nearest rival Ka Pu Siddalingaswamy of KJP at Varuna in Mysore. There are three more rounds of counting.

12:50 pm - Former minister M.P. Renukacharya loses to D.G. Shantana Gowda of Congress at Honnali.

12:45 pm - Anita Kumaraswamy, wife of H D Kumaraswamy, loses to Samajawadi Party candidate C P Yogeshwar at Channapatana

12:40 pm - Priyank Kharge son of Union minister Mallikarjuna Kharge, has won.

12:35 pm - BS Yeddyurappa wins from Shikaripur by 15000 votes.

12:30 pm - H D Kumaraswamy wins from Ramanagaram.

12:25 pm - JDS president H D Kumaraswamy said  - “ If people have blessed us to sit in the opposition, we will sit in the opposition.”

12:20 pm - IIMB professor  B K Chandrashekar of Congress loses to Ravi Subramanya of BJP from Basavanagudi.

12:15 pm - Y.S.V. Datta of the JDS wins from Kadur assembly.

12:10 pm - Actor Pooja Gandhi from BSR Congress has lost to the JDS candidate in Raichur.

12:00 pm - Father-son combinations of Shamanur Shivashankarappa-S S Mallikarjun and M Krishnappa-Priya Krishna, all from Congress, win.

11:55 am - Congress is heading to a clear majority, with confirmed victories in 32 seats and leads in 84 others. JDS is in second place with 4 confirmed seats and leads in 37 seats. The BJP has won in 5 constituencies and is leading in 33.
