Violence at Maharashtra Farmers’ protest, Cops injured
Sources have stated that farmers are making an agitation against the acquisition of lands by the state government. Many hundreds of farmers are protesting at Thane-Badlapur highway, where two police vehicles was torched.
The farmers have stated that the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is acquiring their lands for construction of airport. Meanwhile the farmers at Naveli area are carrying black flags against Fadnavis’s government. Currently women and children have gathered in the streets and are raising slogans against the act by the state government.
Tyres and tree trunks
are set fire and the Maharashtra police department has sent additional police
forces and riot control vehicles to control the swelling crowd. It was stated
that many policemen were injured at the incident. Roads are blocked by women
and protesters sitting in the road and the police officials are controlling the
people on one side. It is anticipated that such situation will be continuing
till the farmers are arrived at a solution regarding their land acquisition
issue.
