Unexpected Finance Burden on Telangana Due to Corona
telangana government had announced a complete lockdown till the 31st of this month to combat the coronavirus threat. During the lockdown, no one should come out of the home. Only one person per family will be allowed to go out for buying essentials.
To take care of the vulnerable sections, the government will give 12 kgs rice to every person, Rs 1500 cash for grocery to each of 87.5 lakh ration card holding families. 2.83 Crore people will be benefitted from this, and the government will incur an expenditure of 2417 Crore. telangana assembly recently approved its budget for 2020-21. This Corona expense is totally unexpected for the state but there is no way out. Already the state is under severe financial stress due to economic slowdown.
On the other side, the entire public transport, including rtc buses, Metro rail services, cabs, and autos, will be shut. Interstate data-borders will be locked, and only the vehicles with essentials will be allowed. All the liquor shops, pubs, and bars will also be closed. The government also instructed that private employers, including contractors, must pay labor in these times of crisis.
