AIIMS has released a new set of guidelines for the detection of black fungus or mucormycosis which took several lives of COVID patients across the nation. We already reported that people with diabetes, kidney, and liver disorders are at high risk of catching this black fungus infection. Already, the rajasthan government declared this black fungus as an epidemic in the state and also set up a separate ward for its treatment.

So far, the death rate is not higher due to Black fungus. The high-risk patients are those with uncontrolled diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetics on steroids. Also, patients who are on anticancer treatment are also at higher risk. In severe Covid cases, those who are on oxygen support through nasal prongs or masks, ventilators are also at risk. We can detect the infection if you have these signs. You may have blood from the nose, facial numbness, difficulty in chewing, blurred vision, loosening of teeth, and nasal blockage.
